His Outstretched Arms Protect You

As our first livestream for Outstretched Arms 2020 approaches, a number of people have wondered where the name of this event came from….

While various translations use this term to reference the mighty right arm of God’s power (Psalm 136:11-12; Exodus 6:6; Jeremiah 32:21), it was The Message paraphrase of Psalm 91:4 that inspired the title of this event.

“[God’s] huge outstretched arms protect you—
    under them you’re perfectly safe;
    his arms fend off all harm.”

However in this event title, the word “arms” is used intentionally. Because we are called to be the body of Jesus, we can also reach out to embrace a broken world and our family in Christ with the love and hope found only in His name.

This is so much more than a fundraiser for Bethesda. Through this event, we pray you can be tangibly reminded through the beautiful music, touching testimonies and Spirit-led memories of the Lord’s presence in your life and the spiritual reassurance of Psalm 91:7 – that nothing can change who God has made you to be in Christ – no matter what trial comes our way.

A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.”

We hope you can join us this Saturday and/or Sunday for this special time together via this livestream link: https://bethesdarenewalcentre.online.church/
