A Warm Thought on a Chilly Night

 

It is a winter wonderland out there in Ottawa!

People often stop using the phrase “winter wonderland” after Christmastime. In the busyness of life after this holy time of year, it can be easy to loose focus on the precious gift of Jesus – our eternal Saviour.

In Philippians 4:8, we read, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things”

Our sweetest focus is our dear Lord. As the timeless hymn cites, “Thou my best thought by day or by night // Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light.”

As we cozy up at home in this “winter wonderland”, may we make time and room to keep “our eyes on Jesus…,”

“[He is our] champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honour beside God’s throne” (Hebrews 12:2).

What a glorious thought to dwell on. What a glorious truth to live by.
